Hinckley’s Newest Summer Celebration Sensation: Pyro Borealis
Frequent visitors to our “up north” getaway are undoubtedly familiar with the abundance of fun summer celebrations that Hinckley has to offer. The Grand Celebration Powwow provides a colourful spectacle of native heritage, expressed through dance, that is a must see. Hinckley hosts its 88th annual Corn and Clover Carnival on July 12th and 13th and Rib Fest on September 7. Sandstone’s Quarry Days and Moose Lake Agate Days are also very popular summer celebrations for residents and visitors alike.
New for 2019 – PYRO BOREALIS
In true Hinckley style, the Hinckley Convention & Visitors Bureau is upping the ante on summertime fun for 2019. The 3rd Annual Pyro Borealis Street Dance & Fireworks Celebration offers a full day of live music, food, fun and fireworks. Enter your name for a chance to win a FREE ATV and bring along the kids for a jumptastic good time in the bounce house. A breathtaking fireworks display caps off the day’s events, which run from 12 noon – 10:00 p.m. on June 29 and is being hosted by Firehouse Liquor Store & Lounge and Koppy Motors.
What In The World Is A Pyro Borealis?
Roughly translated, Pyro Borealis means “Fire from the North.” And that’s exactly what it is. With more than 650 mid-air explosions in the span of about 15 minutes, the action is fast, furious and spectacular. This dazzling display will take place, at Dusk, in the nearly 7-acre field behind Firehouse Liquor Store & Lounge and Koppy Motors. Free parking will be available, on site, to make your viewing experience truly “Up North and Personal.”
Time To Bounce!
No summer celebration is complete without a bounce-house for the kids, right? While you’re busy bouncing to the beat of the bands, why not let the kiddos expend some of their own boundless summertime energy, bouncing around in a bounce-house, courtesy of Koppy Motors?
The Band. The Band. The Band!
Hey look, it’s a street. That must mean there’s a street dance around here somewhere, right? That’s right. We’re shutting down McGowan Avenue , putting up a stage and you’re invited! Starting with Folk and Country music by local favorite, Nathan Frazer, Pyro Borealis will feature (3) musical acts that are sure to keep the kids bouncing and the adults dancing. The Dean Weisser Band will take the stage later in the afternoon with a variety of Classic Rock, New Rock and Original offerings. Headlining the concert portion of Pyro Borealis, Sawyer’s Dream can best be described as Fleetwood Mac meets The Mamas and The Papas. Their combination of Pop, Rock and Originals continually delights concert goers every time they own the stage.
Things That Go BOOM In The Night
“Up north” Minnesota is known for its quiet, warm summer nights. This isn’t one of those nights. Once the sun goes down on June 29, the gang from Bear Creek Pyrotechnics is going to rain fire from the north. Prepare to witness the thunderous display of light and sound that is Pyro Borealis!
You don’t want to miss this. Trust us.
