Then, follow a trained naturalist along a half-mile forested trail where you’ll meet wildlife characters who will share their stories and perhaps dispel some myths (are bats really blind?). Students will learn how to identify common Minnesota plants and trees and how disturbance on the landscape affects plant communities, patterns and distribution. They will apply research and observation skills to interpret various stories on the landscape, enabling them to put together stories of “what happened here.”
This is one of the environmental education courses we offer through Hamline University’s Graduate Professional Development Program (Continuing Studies). We do also make this course available on an audit basis (not-for-credit) for those interested.
